Acupuncture implements fine, hair-like needles just below the skin’s surface to stimulate points on a meridian that correlate to specific body systems and functions to facilitate healing.
At your initial appointment, we ask that you wear loose, comfortable clothing and make sure to eat within a few hours before treatment. When booking your first acupuncture treatment, we’ll provide more details to make sure your experience is comfortable and pleasant.
Needle Massage (Dry Needling)
Somewhat similar to the traditional, alternative medical practice of acupuncture, dry needling is a physical therapy technique that uses needles to alleviate pain. Where the main purpose of acupuncture is to alter and unblock the flow of Qi (energy), dry needling is performed by placing needles in trigger points to treat pain and increase mobility.
Also referred to as needle massage, dry needling, has been scientifically proven to be effective in the treatment of a number of neuromuscular conditions. The therapeutic technique has been shown to help with:
- Joint and disc problems
- Tendinitis
- Migraines and tension headaches
- TMJ disorders
- Carpal tunnel syndrome
- Pelvic and hip pain
- Chronic muscle cramping
